New Teacher Feature: Krystal Wright
Krystal, originally from Austin, TX, moved with her family to Weston, Colorado. She began her career in education as a paraprofessional for three years. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Education, she was hired as a kindergarten teacher at Fisher’s Peak Elementary School. Krystal has always aspired to be a teacher, inspired by her fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Bernard, who helped her recognize her academic strengths. She prefers teaching in a rural school setting, believing it allows her to have the greatest impact on student achievement. She emphasizes that teaching kindergarten is about more than academics, it’s about life skills and empathy. As a new teacher, Krystal is dedicated to several key areas such as utilizing student assessments to identify and support areas of need; creating a positive and effective learning environment; and implementing diverse teacher methods to engage students. Krystal is an active member of the Lighthouse Leadership team at Fisher’s Peak Elementary, a Lighthouse School. She models leadership within the school community, aiming to foster a growth mindset among her students and colleagues.
Outside of teaching, Krysta enjoys outdoor activities, walking her dogs, reading and studying educational documentaries and research. She treasures spending quality time with her family. Krystal’s dedication to her students and her passion for education make her a valuable addition to the Trinidad School District.
