Meet Laura Papadopolous: TSD1’s New Third Grade Teacher at Fisher’s Peak Elementary School
We are thrilled to welcome Laura Papadopolous to our team at Fisher’s Peak Elementary School as our new third grade teacher. Laura brings a wealth of experience and a diverse background that will enrich our school community. Laura was born in New York City and raised in New Jersey. She pursued her passion for the arts by attending college in Florida, where she majored in Fine Arts. Her creative talents led her to work in the scenery business, designing backdrops for adventure parks. Her journey to teaching began when she moved to Trinidad with her small family to support her late husband’s career. Within a few years, she was recruited by Adams State to join their alternative teacher preparation program. While completing the program, she served as the English Learner Coordinator with Trinidad School District 1 and supplemented her income as a Biography Driven Instructor with BOCES.
After competing her student teaching at Eckhart Elementary School, Laura continued as the English Language Learner Coordinator and added teaching Science as a special’s class. The unfortunate loss of her husband in 2010 prompted a move to Florida in 2013 to be closer to his family. In Florida, Laura taught third and fifth grades at charter schools before switching careers to become an office administrator with Apple. After her youngest child graduated from high school, Laura transferred to Apple’s Boulder, Colorado office. Eventually, Laura returned to her home in Trinidad and is now excited to be teaching third grade at Fisher’s Peak Elementary School.
Laura is a woman of many talents and interests. She loves refurbishing and restoring furniture, which she sells online. She also enjoys cooking, traveling, visiting nature parks and hiking. Laura is a proud mother of three children: Alexis (18), Jasmine (21) and Michael (25). We are confident that Laura’s diverse experiences and passion for teaching will make a significant impact on our students and school community. Welcome, Laura!
