Headshot of Lu Lucero

Meet Trinidad Middle School paraprofessional Lu Lucero. Lu was excited to become a paraprofessional so he could teach students new tools to succeed that he learned from his career path therapeutically and educationally. He shared, “I was inspired by this organization when I first applied to be the girls’ basketball coach! After interviewing and meeting Ms. Pachelli and staff I knew I wanted to be a part of the school community.”  Lu is a 2023 graduate of MSU Denver with a degree in Communications and a minor in Management. Following graduation, he worked at the Tennyson Center for Children as a Behavioral Residential Youth Treatment Counselor. He looks forward to going back to school to get his prerequisites for nursing.

Lu contributes his success to his biggest teacher who inspired his path, his dad. He shares, “My dad has been on kidney failure for the last 10 years and he is still the most optimistic and faithful man I know! He teaches me daily about keeping on through it all and the power of prayer!”  His father’s advice contributed to his high school success of going to basketball State Championships three years in a row.

When not working, Lu loves spending time with his pets (two cats and one dog) and his partner. He travels to Pueblo and Denver to hang out with family and friends. Lu loves tending to his tremendous number of plants in his home. He loves relaxing to R&B soul artist Sade, especially the album Lovers Rock. When asked if he could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be, Lu answered, “I have always wanted to have a picnic under a blossom tree in Japan!”
