Gianna was born and raised in Trinidad, Colorado. In fact, she is a Trinidad High School alumnus and attended Trinidad School District #1 from kindergarten to the 12th grade. Her graduation ceremony was memorable as it was held on the football field due to COVID. After graduating high school, she attended Trinidad State College and graduated in the spring of 2021 with an Associates of Arts degree. Then she transferred to Adams State University to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. She will graduate in the fall of 2025.
Gianna’s career choice to become a high school math teacher is attributed to her family, especially her father. Her dad was a math teacher at Trinidad High School for eleven years and coached for fifteen years. She shared, “He created ways for students to see math differently, and he was able to make math enjoyable for students who found it difficult. My dad is a true inspiration for my future, and I cannot thank him enough for the example he has set for me. He has taught me how hard work, discipline, and toughness can be a guide throughout life. I am most excited to begin working with kids and start building a better and brighter future for them and our community.”
Some of Gianna’s favorite activities to do in her free time are reading, puzzles, cooking, working out, traveling, coloring and spending time with family. She recommends the book Shadowlands by Kate Brian, she added, “I found this book my freshman year of high school and have loved it ever since.” She became very passionate about art after taking painting, drawing, and ceramics courses in college. She shared, “Those learning experiences sparked my interest in this newfound hobby.”
Some milestones Gianna is particularly proud of are graduating from Trinidad High School as co-salutatorian, graduating from TSC with the honor of summa cum laude, and receiving the NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship at Adams State University. Future milestones include owning a home and becoming a positive influence as well as productive member of Trinidad’s community.
Welcome Gianna Vezzani!
